Man arrested after Man Utd party rape claim

Police investigating claims that a woman was raped at a hotel where Manchester United footballers were holding a party have arrested a 19-year-old man, police said tonight.

The alleged assault occurred at the Great John Street Hotel in Manchester in the early hours of this morning.

A spokeswoman for Greater Manchester Police said the man was arrested on suspicion of rape this evening after presenting himself for questioning.

She said he remains in custody.
