No long-term damage for Richards

Manchester City received some good news this afternoon when it was confirmed that Micah Richards’ knee injury is not serious.

The England international defender was carried off on a stretcher after 73 minutes of last night’s Carling Cup victory at Bolton.

City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson revealed after the match that the extent of the injury would not be known until a scan today.

And a City spokesperson has told the club’s official website, www.mcfc.co.uk: “Micah has bruised his medial meniscus cartilage in his right knee but there is no serious or long-term damage.

“His condition will continue to be assessed on a daily basis.”
