Baines absent for Everton

Everton are without Leighton Baines for their Carling Cup clash at Luton after the England under-21 full-back was forced off against Derby with an ankle injury.

Spanish playmaker Mikel Arteta is doubtful after picking up a calf strain in Sunday’s 2-0 win, although teenage striker James Vaughan is back in contention after returning to training on Monday.

Assitant manager Alan Irvine has confirmed Everton will name a strong squad with Phil Neville and Tony Hibbert available again following suspension while Tim Cahill and Thomas Gravesen have recently returned from injury.
