The Australia midfielder has not featured in the league since sustaining a metatarsal injury against Sheffield United on March 3.

But he made a goalscoring comeback on Thursday in the Toffees’ UEFA Cup win against Greek outfit Larissa and could again feature from the start.

Thomas Gravesen also returned against the Greeks after a knee injury but Phil Neville and Tony Hibbert are suspended and Andrew Johnson (ankle) remains sidelined.

Provisional squad: Howard, Yobo, Lescott, Stubbs, Baines, Valente, Pienaar, Arteta, Carsley, Gravesen, Cahill, Osman, McFadden, Yakubu, Anichebe, Jagielka, Wessels.
