Ireland's bid to host the 2011 UEFA Cup final has taken a big step forward after being short-listed by European football's governing body.

Lansdowne Road has been selected as a possible host venue after being assessed on a variety of factors.

Further UEFA inspections are scheduled for later this year, with a final decision due in March.

The Dublin venue, due for completion in 2009, faces competition in the process from five other grounds, including Arsenal's Emirates Stadium.
