Zayed brace steers Drogs closer to title
Shamrock Rovers 0 Drogheda United 2
Eamon Zayed scored twice to leave Drogheda needing only a point to clinch the first league title in their history.
This win, their fourth on the spin, has Paul Doolin's side ten points clear and at least a draw at home to Cork City next Friday night will clinch the championship.
Drogheda had the bit between their teeth from the off and deserved the lead when it arrived on 17 minutes.
Paul Keegan fed Zayed who skipped by Dean Lawrence to hit a 25 yard shot that bounced awkwardly to beat Rovers' keeper Barry Murphy.
Zayed sealed the win with his second goal of the night on 62 minutes when shooting home after Guy Bates chested down a Shane Robinson cross.
