Adrie Koster has been appointed interim coach of Ajax following the departure of Henk ten Cate.

Ten Cate left the post on Monday after the Amsterdam club agreed to let the 52-year-old open talks with Chelsea about a move to the Premier League side, where it is expected he will work on Avram Grant’s coaching staff.

Former RKC Waalwijk boss Koster will move up from his role as coach of Jong Ajax to take charge of the senior side, with Ten Cate’s right-hand men, Alfons Groenendijk and Hennie Spijkerman, staying on his assistants.
