Galway United 2 Longford Town 1

Galway United 2 Longford Town 1

Galway came from behind as to put a huge dent in Longford's survival hopes as the midlanders finished with ten men for the second week running.

Dave Mooney put Longford in front with his 15th goal of the league season, firing home Colm James cross on 49 minute.

But Galway hit back when Alan Keane shot home a penalty on the hour after Pat Sullivan fouled Derek Glynn.

Wes Charles then headed what proved the winner on 74 minutes from Alan Murphy's corner.

Seconds later Town had skipper Damien Brennan dismissed for a foul on Keane.

Town are now five points adrift at the bottom five games to go.
