Etuhu returns for Black Cats

Sunderland midfielder Dickson Etuhu is back in contention for Sunday’s Barclays Premier League trip to Arsenal after serving a one-match ban.

The former Norwich player missed the 2-1 home defeat by Blackburn after reaching five bookings for the season.

Former Gunner Andy Cole’s calf injury means he will have to wait to make his senior debut for the club, while Russell Anderson (ankle), Kieran Richardson (back), Carlos Edwards (hamstring) and Dean Whitehead and Stanislav Varga (both knee) are still out.

Provisional squad: Gordon, Ward, Nosworthy, Halford, Kay, McShane, Anderson, Higginbotham, Collins, Harte, Etuhu, Wallace, Yorke, Miller, Leadbitter, Chopra, Jones, Stokes, Murphy, Connolly, O’Donovan.
