Bruce awaits contract news
Birmingham manager Steve Bruce expects to find out by the end of the weekend whether prospective new owner Carson Yeung will approve his new contract.
Bruce agreed a new deal in May after steering the Blues to promotion back to the Barclays Premier League.
But, by the time he arrived back at St Andrews in July, Yeung was declaring his interest in buying Blues and has already taken out a 29.9% stake.
The Hong Kong businessman expects to be in full control within the next couple of months but Bruce is still waiting to see whether his new deal will be given the green light.
The City manager said: “The contract was presented to Mr Yeung and his people last weekend and I hope to find something out by the end of the weekend.
“But at the moment my thoughts are focused on Sunday’s game at Blackburn which I think is the right thing to do.
“The contract was agreed five months ago but then I went away on holiday in June and July and by the time I was back at the club the takeover thing was on the move.
“I’ve been patient for five months and I think it’s important for everyone to find out what is going to happen.
“I’m a big boy. If Mr Yeung wants to bring in new people, then fair enough, but for the sake of the club the quicker things are sorted the better.”
Bruce’s current contract with Birmingham expires in the summer of 2009 and it is understood his new deal will be a two-year rolling contract.
Bruce has no fresh injury worries for Sunday’s trip to Ewood Park with skipper Damien Johnson (hamstring) and Mikael Forssell (hernia) his only long-term concerns.
