Newcastle boss Sam Allardyce will be without striker Michael Owen and defender Claudio Cacapa for tomorrow night’s Carling Cup third-round trip to Arsenal.

Both men were due to undergo scans on groin injuries today after limping out of yesterday’s 3-1 Barclays Premier League victory over West Ham.

Mark Viduka is expected to be fit after picking up a minor knock, but Joey Barton (fractured metatarsal), Emre and Peter Ramage (both knee), Damien Duff (ankle) and Stephen Carr and Celestine Babayaro (both hamstring) are still out.

Provisional squad: Harper, Given, N’Zogbia, Rozehnal, Taylor, Enrique, Faye, Edgar, Beye, Milner, Geremi, Butt, Smith, Pattison, Viduka, Martins, Ameobi.
