Bayern still in charge despite draw

Bayern Munich continue to set the pace at the top of the Bundesliga despite their second consecutive draw, this time 1-1 at home against Schalke.

The home side dominated for the opening 30 minutes but fell behind against the run of play when Ivan Rakitic put the Gelsenkirchen side in front nine minutes before the break.

Miroslav Klose scored a deserved equaliser for Bayern nine minutes into the second half but neither side were able to force the winner.

The result leaves both teams with the only unbeaten records in the Bundesliga.

Arminia Bielefeld are second in the table after a 4-2 win at the expense of bottom club Hansa Rostock.

Victor Agali’s own goal gave Bielefeld the lead although Enrico Kern briefly equalised for Rostock.

Two goals from Christian Eigler and one from Artur Wichniarek secured a comfortable win for Arminia with Kai Bulow getting a consolation for the east German side.

Alexander Meier scored both goals in a 2-1 win for Eintracht Frankfurt against Hamburg.

Meier’s second goal came three minutes from time and just five minutes after Rafael van der Vaart’s penalty had looked to have saved a point for Hamburg.

Champions Stuttgart picked up only their second win of the campaign with a 3-0 dismissal of Energie Cottbus.

Second-half goals from Jeronimo Cacau, Ewerthon and Mario Gomez sealed the win for Stuttgart who won the last eight games of last season to win the title from what had looked an impossible position but have found victories harder to come by this term.
