Adam Hughes earned Sligo a deserved point at Flancare Park to put the brakes on Longford's run of six wins in seven games.

Dave Mooney maintained his remarkable scoring run with his ninth goal in 10 games to put Town in front on 29 minutes.

Mark Rutherford played the striker through with a sublime pass and Mooney slipped the ball past Richard Brush for his 14th of the league season.

Sligo thought they'd equalised just before half time, but Matt Gordon was in an offside position when he headed the loose ball home after Town keeper Shay Kelly parried a shot from Rovers' skipper Adam Hughes.

But Hughes made no mistake on 61 minutes when he slipped the ball past Kelly after good work by Seamus Coleman.
