Galway had the woodwork to thank for earning a point at Turner's Cross as Cork had goalkeeper Mick Devine sent off.

Colin Healy and Gareth Farrelly combined well to set up John O'Flynn to shoot against a post on 29 minutes.

The other main talking point of the night came on 75 minutes when Devine, on as a half-time substitute, was dismissed for bringing down Derek Glynn just outside the area.

Striker Denis Behan went in goal, but neither side really created a chance thereafter as both were perhaps happy to settle for a point.
