Hero Geovanni benched by Eriksson

Geovanni is back on the bench for Manchester City for today's Premier League clash against Arsenal at Emirates Stadium.

The Brazilian started his first game for City in the victory over rivals Manchester United last weekend, scoring the winner, but is named as a substitute for the clash against Arsenal.

City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson drafts in Emile Mpenza, while Stephen Ireland replaces Dietmar Hamann.

Eriksson famously took Theo Walcott to the World Cup last year without using him, but there will be no reunion today, as the teenager is not in the Arsenal squad.

Emmanuel Adebayor, Tomas Rosicky and Philippe Senderos return, with Eduardo on the bench and William Gallas injured.

Manuel Almunia replaces Jens Lehmann in goal.
