Andy Myler salvaged a point for Shamrock Rovers from a match they should have won tonight as Derry finished with 10 men.

Rovers dominated the first half, but despite several clear-cut chances, failed to make their possession pay.

Derry keeper Patrick Jennings made super saves from Barry Ferguson and Erick McGill; Tadhg Purcell hit a post while Danny O'Connor had a shot cleared off the line.

But Derry snatched the lead five minutes into the second when Sam Morrow got away on to a long ball over the top to nutmeg Barry Murphy.

Derry had left-back Sean Hargan sent off for a bad tackle on Ger Rowe on 58 minutes before Rovers levelled two minutes later.

Derek Pender swung over a cross from the left and Myler headed home.
