Derry City 4 Sligo Rovers 1

Derry gave new boss John Robertson the perfect start with a big win at Brandywell.

The Candystripes never looked back after a bright start and blitzed Sligo with two quick goals in an eventful first half.

Mark Farren, who'd missed a good chance earlier, broke the deadlock on 34 minutes when stabbing home from six yards.

Killian Brennan then set up Gareth McGlynn to shoot Derry 2-0 up three minutes later.

But a blunder by Ken Oman, who mis-controlled a cross, gifted the ball to Matt Judge who shot past Patrick Jennings.

But Derry remained well on top and Ciaran Martyn, on his return from Norway fired home their third goal ten minutes into the second half.

Farren added his second on 75 minutes to give Derry their biggest win of the season.
