Cork's Euro campaign continues despite loss
Cork City 0 Valur 1 (Cork won 2-1 on aggregate)
Cork City duly advanced to the second round of the InterToto Cup tonight, but they were given a fright by their Icelandic opponents.
Valur stunned a big home crowd by taking the lead on the night after 20 minutes.
A sluggish Cork side were punished when Hafthor Vilhjalmsson's volleyed cross from the left was met by Helgi Sigurdsson who sidefooted past Michael Devine.
Cork were much better in the second half and Roy O'Donvoan shot against a post after three minutes.
Valur finished with 10 men when Sigurbjorn Hreidarsson was shown a straight red card for a bad challenge on Liam Kearney on 88 minutes.
