Hutchings completes Nash deal
Chris Hutchings’ busy summer has continued after Carlo Nash completed his £300,000 (€446,500) transfer to Wigan yesterday.
Nash was put on Preston’s transfer list at the end of the season, having fallen out with North End boss Paul Simpson for publicly asking for a move to Fulham in January.
Nash spent two months on loan at the JJB Stadium at the tail end of last season without making an appearance for the Latics.
The two clubs agreed a fee last week and 33-year-old Nash has sorted out personal terms after returning from his honeymoon.
The former Manchester City goalkeeper will do battle with Chris Kirkland and Mike Pollitt to be Hutchings’ first choice.
Hutchings took over at the helm following the resignation of Paul Jewell after last season’s final-day win at Sheffield United ensured their Barclays Premier League status.
He has already persuaded Pollitt to stay for another season, while also signing defenders Titus Bramble, Mario Melchiot, Andreas Granqvist, and former Newcastle and City striker Antoine Sibierski.
