Chelsea seal Philliskirk deal
Chelsea have completed their first summer signing – 16-year-old Oldham prospect Danny Philliskirk.
Philliskirk, son of Latics youth-team coach Tony, caught the eye of a number of top clubs but Blues boss Jose Mourinho has won the race for his services.
The precise terms of the four-year deal, two of which will be a scholarship, have not been disclosed but Oldham claim it involved Mourinho agreeing to consider sending some of his young players on loan to Boundary Park.
Commenting on the deal, Latics chief executive Alan Hardy told the club’s official website, www.oldhamathletic.co.uk: “We’re delighted for Danny – he is joining a massive club with fantastic resources, which will help him develop his game.
“Danny has four years of security and time is now on his side to develop into an excellent player. Also, we may have an opportunity of taking him on loan at some stage.”
