New trophy to be unveiled at FAI Cup draw

This year's FAI Cup winners will receive a new trophy to coincide with Ford's sponsorship of the famous competition.

The new FAI Ford Senior Cup trophy will replace the current silverware that has been in existence since the competition was inaugurated in 1922.

The recently commissioned trophy will be on display at today's second round draw at the Heritage Golf Club in Laois.

The old trophy will not be awarded to Shamrock Rovers, who have won the competition a record 24 times and will instead be housed in the FAI’s proposed museum when the Association moves to its new headquarters at Abbotstown later this year.
