McCarthy fails to show for S Africa - report

Blackburn striker Benni McCarthy failed to join up with South Africa today, according to a television report.

He was due in Durban to prepare for their African Nations Cup qualifier against Chad on Saturday.

However, the South African Broadcasting Corporation stated on their website that McCarthy was absent.

He has not played for the national side for 15 months and coach Carlos Alberto Parreira shocked many be recalling the former Porto star.
