Cooling the only absentee for Blues
Waterford United will be hoping to maintain their recent good form ahead of tonight's visit of Longford Town to the RSC, kick-off 7.45pm.
Gareth Cronin's side are unbeaten in their last three league games and it might have been four if last week's clash with Shamrock Rovers hadn't been abandoned, with the tie poised at 1-1.
Midfielder Stephen Cooling is the only absentee for the Blues as he is still struggling with an ankle injury.
“I thought we were in control of the game against Shamrock Rovers last week and the lads were doing really well," said Cronin.
"Vinny Sullivan has found his scoring boots and his goal last Friday was top drawer stuff. It was a pity the game had to be abandoned but to be fair, the referee had no option given the health & safety implications.
"The spirit in the squad is extremely high at the moment and I hope we can build on the recent decent performances and get a good result on Friday. It won’t be easy as Longford are a dogged team but we have prepared well this week and I am confident of getting something from the game."
Longford will be looking to get their campaign back on track after suffering a six-point deduction for off-the-field matters.
They recorded a well-earned draw with Derry City last week and will travel south with a win on their minds.
However, Town will travel without Robbie Martin, Dessie Baker, Shay Kelly, Kevin Doherty and John Martin who are all out injured.
