UCD's Gary Dicker has left Belfield Park to sign for English league side Stockport for a nominal fee.

The Ireland Under-21 international will link up with Jim Gannon at Edgeley Park.

County finished eighth in League Two this season, just missing out on the play-offs.

Gannon, the former Shelbourne midfielder, was manager at Dundalk before moving back to England to manage the Hatters.

Dicker had been on loan with Birmingham since January but failed to make an impact and didn't feature in any first team games for Steve Bruce's side.

He returned to Belfield at the end of the English season but was always keen to move back across the water.
