Waterford United v Drogheda United team news

A win for Drogheda United over Waterford United at the RSC would put Paul Doolin’s side back on top of the eircom League of Ireland Premier Division, kick-off 7.45pm.

John Hayes may miss tonight’s clash, the Blues’ captain is struggling with a hamstring strain.

Stephen Cooling is definitely ruled out as he has an ankle injury and Ray Scully is suspended.

Dave Warren, Paul McCarthy and Stephen Cooling are all expected to start.

“I was very proud of the players and the way they clawed their way back into the game on Saturday,” said manager Gareth Cronin.

“I must say I was worried and it looked bleak having conceded that early goal as well as losing Ray Scully. The second half performance was excellent to a man.

“The mood has been upbeat in training this week and I am hoping that we can build on that second half performance and get something from this game.”

Damien Lynch, Declan O'Brien and Brian Shelley have returned to training for United and Graham Gartland is also available again.

However, Jason Gavin, Dan Connor, Richie Baker and Shane Barrett remain out injured.

“It's a tough place to go alright and their big result this year was the first game against Cork when they beat them 1-0, so it will be tough,” said Doolin.

“But my players have done very well whether it has been at home or away and I just hope that they keep it going. Our confidence is good and as long as they keep doing what they have been doing since the start of the season they will give themselves a chance to win games.”
