Mooney lifts Longford off the table

Dave Mooney's third goal of the season gave Longford a deserved first win to lift them off the foot of the table as a sixth defeat on the spin sees Blues slump to the bottom.

The only goal of the game came on 24 minutes and was a joy from start to finish.

Daire Doyle fed Robbie Martin out on the left and he set up Mooney to score with a rising right-foot shot from 16 yards.

Though Doyle was sent off for second booking on the hour mark, Blues failed to seriously threaten the Town goal as the midlanders held out for a good win.
