Cork move to third place in table

Ola Tidman had a nightmare debut in goal as title favourites Derry slumped to a fifth defeat in six matches.

In-form Cork started well with Roy O'Donovan missing a header from Admir Softic's cross on eight minutes before giving the visitors a deserved lead three minutes later.

Swede Tidman could only parry a John O'Flynn shot from long range and O'Donovan was in on the loose ball in a flash to shoot home his ninth goal in six matches.

Derry hit back to level on 15 minutes when Cork failed to deal with Killian Brennan's cross from the left and Peter Hutton forced the ball home at the back post.

But another goalkeeping error by Tidman gifted the lead back to Cork on 42 minutes. Tidman palmed Liam Kearney's cross into the path of Admir Softic who drilled home from 14 yards.

Tidman then failed to come for a Darragh Ryan corner on 80 minutes to give Cork skipper Dan Murray a free header to score their third goal.

Substitute Denis Behan added a fourth goal on 90 minutes with a terrific lob from outside the area.

Cork move up to third in the table while Derry are now nine points behind leaders St Patrick's Athletic in seventh place.
