Hynes boost for Candystripes

Derry City received some much-needed good news ahead of tonight's clash with Cork City at the Brandywell, kick-off 8.00pm.

While their form on the pitch is well-below par, midfielder Peter Hynes has eventually acquired FIFA clearance and may figure for the Candystripes at some stage.

Sean Hargan is out injured for City, while Darren Kelly and Ken Oman are carrying knocks but should be fit to play.

Manager, Pat Fenlon may change things around, which may include a recall for fit-again striker Gary Beckett.

Cork will be confident going into the game as boss, Damien Richardson has virtually a fully-fit squad to choose from.

Darren Murphy is still out as the gash on his thigh has yet to heal and Colm Carroll is also missing, however, he is back in rehabilitation following cruciate surgery.

Brian O'Callaghan is back in contention having recovered from a groin strain and Sean Kelly, Colin O'Brien and Liam Kearney are all pushing for a place in the squad.

"The trip to the Brandywell is one of the most eagerly awaited fixtures of the season by all at Cork City. It will be a challenging tie for us and prove a real test," said Richardson.

City are also taking legal advice over the Colin Healy and Gareth Farrelly FIFA issue.
