Matthew Upson is still recovering from a calf injury and has been ruled out of West Ham’s Barclays Premiership clash with Middlesbrough at Upton Park.

Danny Gabbidon (groin) and Nigel Quashie (ankle) will need a reserve-team match next week before returning, while Calum Davenport (foot) is also struggling.

Striker Dean Ashton is out for the season as he recovers from an ankle injury.
