Sublime goals from Gary O'Neill and Alan Kirby saw St Pat's maintain their bright start to the season to take a firm lead in Setanta Sports Cup Group 2.

In-form St Pat's took a 32nd-minute lead against the run of play. A piece of opportunism from O'Neill was to register his first goal of the season.

Joseph Ndo nicked the ball off Joe Gamble and it broke into the path of O'Neill, who instinctively shot first time off his left foot to find the corner of the net from 20 yards.

Kirby's goal on 50 minutes was even better as he chipped the ball over Michael Devine from outside the box for his third goal of the campaign.

Cork hit back on 84 minutes to force a grandstand finish when substitute John O'Flynn shot home after St Pat's failed to clear a long ball into their area.

O'Neill sealed the win in the final minute from a coolly taken penalty after Ndo was taken down by Gamble, who was sent off.
