Latest team news for UCD v Shamrock Rovers
Shamrock Rovers return to the Premier Division after spending last season outside the top tier of Irish football for the first time in their history.
First Division champions, Rovers, travel to Belfield tonight to take on UCD, kick-off 7.45pm.
UCD boss Pete Mahon has a fully-fit squad for tonight's Dublin derby apart from winger Patrick McWalter who is still out with a knee injury.
The Hoops are without Ger O'Brien, Paul Shiels, Tadhg Purcell and Eric McGill, who are all injured ahead of tonight's clash.
"We suffered a few injuries during our pre-season preparation," says Hoops boss, Pat Scully.
"These things happen and we just have to get on with it and deal with it.
"On the positive side, three other injured players stand a very good chance of making it into the squad for the UCD game: Andy Myler, Wayne Colbert and Robbie Clarke."
Myler is recovering from a back injury, while both Colbert and Clarke are hoping to shake off bruised ankles in time to make themselves available for selection on Friday.
"They should be okay," says Scully. "I'd rate them all as about 70-30 at this stage. Other than that, we've a full squad to call on and can’t wait to getting the season under way."
