With the tie poised at 1-1 after the clash in Portugal, Mourinho chose the same XI that defeated Portsmouth at the weekend in the Premiership.

Lassana Diarra continued as a makeshift right-back and Michael Essien deputised for skipper John Terry at the heart of the defence again.

Striker Didier Drogba partnered Andriy Shevchenko, who scored in the first leg at the Estadio do Dragao, up front.

The visitors dropped former Tottenham striker Helder Postiga to the bench from their first-leg side.
