Koumas gets top award

Jason Koumas was tonight named the best player outside the Premiership - but admitted his West Brom career could have gone in a very different direction this season.

Midfielder Koumas has been instrumental in the Baggies’ attempt to win promotion from the Coca-Cola Championship this term, but it seemed last summer as though he would never play again for the club after a dispute over a proposed move to Cardiff, with whom he spent the 2005/06 campaign on loan.
