Lennon plans Parkhead title party

Celtic captain Neil Lennon is dreaming of clinching the Bank of Scotland Premier League title in this month’s Old Firm clash at Parkhead.

The 35-year-old midfielder is in his seventh year at Celtic and is targeting a fifth SPL title since joining from Leicester.

If Celtic beat bottom club Dunfermline tomorrow, and Hibernian defeat Rangers on Sunday, the league can be wrapped up with a home win on March 11 when the great rivals meet in the East End of Glasgow.

Lennon told the Evening Times: “It doesn’t matter when you win the league, it’s a marvellous moment in your career. But to do it at home against Rangers would be special.

“I’m not trying to hype up that game, it all depends on results this weekend. So we have just got to take care of business here first and hopefully Hibs can turn them over on Sunday.”

Lennon, who turns 36 in June, also vowed to play on into next season but stressed: “I’ve no plan to sit down with the manager [Gordon Strachan] until things are out the way with regards to the league.”
