Watford welcome back goalkeeper Ben Foster for their crucial Barclays Premiership fixture at home to Wigan tomorrow.

The on-loan Manchester United man missed the weekend’s FA Cup win over Ipswich due to a bruised thumb, but he is likely to replace Richard Lee between the posts against Paul Jewell’s team, while veteran centre-back Malky Mackay comes back into contention following a calf problem.

Gareth Williams, Lee Williamson and Will Hoskins were cup-tied for the Ipswich game, but should rejoin the squad along with defenders Clarke Carlisle and James Chambers, who are close to full fitness following long-term injuries.

Provisional squad: Foster, Lee, Mariappa, DeMerit, Shittu, Powell, Mackay, Doyley, Chambers, Stewart, Carlisle, Smith, Francis, Mahon, Cavalli, Bangura, Williamson, Williams, McNamee, Bouazza, Rinaldi, Henderson, Kabba, Hoskins, Priskin, Ashikodi.
