Scholes focusing on title
Paul Scholes has vowed Manchester United will “keep plugging away” in the Premiership title race after regaining their six-point lead over Chelsea with a 4-0 win at Tottenham.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored the opener at White Hart Lane on the stroke of half-time but there were question marks over the decision to award the spot-kick.
Nemanja Vidic, Scholes and Ryan Giggs scored goals in the second half but John O’Shea finished in goal after Edwin van der Sar broke his nose.
“The score said everything. To win 4-0 away from home at a tough place like this is a great result for us,” Scholes told Sky Sports 1.
“We won it going forward. We knew at the back we could exploit them with pace and strength up front so we wanted to get the ball forward and we managed to do that.
“It was such a big result for us. We thought Chelsea would win yesterday so this weekend we had the more difficult game so to come and win is a big result for us.
“We’ll keep plugging away and hopefully at the end of the season we’ll get our just rewards.”
