The Blues captain has been out of action since December 13 with back and calf injuries – but left-back Ashley Cole is out with damaged ligaments, Wayne Bridge will replace him.

Midfielder Joe Cole (foot) and defender Khalid Boulahrouz (knee) are not fit, while winger Arjen Robben (ankle) remains doubtful.
