Keane backs Edwards to star
Sunderland manager Roy Keane has backed new signing Carlos Edwards to be a smash hit at the Stadium of Light.
Edwards, 28, left Luton for their Coca-Cola Championship rivals in a £1.5m (€2.3m transfer following a glowing reference from Trinidad & Tobago international team-mate Dwight Yorke.
Keane was pleased with the contribution of Edwards in their 1-0 FA Cup defeat at Preston and believes fans can expect more of the same in the bread and butter of the league.
“Carlos did well when he came on,” he said.
“We’re absolutely delighted to have captured such a sought-after, top player. A lot of clubs have been interested in Carlos, so it’s great he will be here at Sunderland to play his part in getting this club back to the Premiership.”
