Addicks lead the chase for Kepa

Sevilla sporting director Ramon Rodriguez ‘Monchi’ has revealed Charlton are leading the race to sign unsettled striker Kepa Blanco.

The 22-year-old is a reported target of several Premiership clubs but it appears the struggling Londoners have made the early running to take him on loan until the end of the season.

“French clubs, English clubs and German clubs have shown an interest in Kepa,” Monchi told PA Sport.

“One of those clubs is Charlton Athletic. We have not taken a decision yet but all could be sorted later today.”

Kepa is keen to quit the Primera Liga leaders after struggling to hold down a regular first-team place this term.

And his agent Alvaro Torres hinted a switch may be in the offing.

“We have received one official written offer from a Premier League club,” Torres told PA Sport.

“We have forwarded the offer, which is a loan deal, to Sevilla and we will have to wait for their decision.”

Kepa has scored three goals in nine league appearances for Sevilla this term.
