Aaron Lennon signed a new five-and-a-half-year deal to stay at Tottenham and immediately set his sights on improving on his breakthrough season.

The 19-year-old’s performance in his first campaign at White Hart Lane earned him a call up to England’s squad for the World Cup in Germany, although Spurs’ season ended in disappointment when they missed out on a Champions League qualifier to Arsenal.

They are in the hunt for a fourth-place finish in this season’s Barclays Premiership and are involved in three cup competitions, with Lennon aiming for a success now he has committed his future to the club.

“I’m feeling really settled here at the club and I’m thoroughly enjoying my football,” he said. “There is a terrific spirit in the squad and we have everything to play for this season.”
