Saudi Arabia champions Al Ittihad have failed in a bid to sign 34-year-old Inter Milan midfielder Luis Figo.

The Jeddah club were adamant the former FIFA World Player of the Year would be unveiled today but a statement on Inter Milan's official website, www.inter.it, confirmed: "There are no negotiations for the transfer of Luis Figo to another club."
