Owen sets comeback target

Michael Owen is hoping to be back in action before the end of this season.

The Newcastle forward has been out since seriously injuring his knee at last year's World Cup, but Owen appears to be increasingly optimistic of returning soon following his latest consultations with his surgeon.

"If it remains a steady progression I'm hoping to be back in April," said the 27-year-old said.

"But the real test will come when we get nearer the time."
