Villa trio recover from injury

Aston Villa midfielder Stiliyan Petrov has recovered from his hamstring injury in time for today’s Premiership clash with Charlton.

Defenders Olof Mellberg and Aaron Hughes have overcome the knee injuries they suffered in the 2-1 defeat by Tottenham to take their place in the side, while Juan Pablo Angel replaces Milan Baros up front.

Denmark winger Dennis Rommedahl starts ahead of Jerome Thomas in the only change to the Charlton side which drew 2-2 with Fulham on Wednesday .

Thomas has been feeling the effects of a virus and has been dropped to the bench for Alan Pardew’s second game in charge at The Valley.
