Kanu set for well-earned rest

Harry Redknapp has no fresh injury worries ahead of Saturday’s trip to Bolton and looks set to make just one change to the team which won at West Ham on St Stephen's Day.

Redknapp will opt for Zimbabwean striker Benjani Mwaruwari instead of top scorer Kanu to rest the Nigerian for Monday’s game against Tottenham.

Portuguese star Manuel Fernandes is likely to play his last game for the club before his loan expires on Tuesday as the club will not pick him for three consecutive Premiership games to stop a £12m (€18m) buyout clause being activated.

Provisional squad: James, Johnson, Primus, Campbell, Pamarot, O’Neil, Mendes, Fernandes, Davis, Taylor, Benjani, Ashdown, O’Brien, Griffin, Krancjar, Hughes, Thompson, Kanu, Cole, Douala.
