Liverpool's Carling Cup quarter-final at home to Arsenal has been postponed because of heavy fog.

Referee Martin Atkinson assessed the conditions from on the pitch at Anfield at 6.15pm and said if the fog had not worsened in 30 minutes the game would be on.

However, on his return at 6.45pm conditions had deteriorated and visibility was so poor and unlikely to improve that the match was declared unplayable.
