Everton face Hammers without injured duo
Training ground injuries robbed Everton of both Phil Neville and Mikel Arteta for the visit of West Ham, although Andrew Johnson returned after a hamstring problem.
But Everton were also without midfielder Simon Davies because of a family bereavement, while Tim Cahill, Tony Hibbert, Gary Naysmith and Alessandro Pistone were still out. It meant that Andy van der Meyde got a first start of the season.
West Ham were without hamstring victim Danny Gabbidon, which gave James Collins only his third game of the season after recovering from a groin problem. Carlos Tevez played up front with Bobby Zamora, a week after his walk out after being substituted.
