Kanu came to Portsmouth’s rescue yet again with a 44th-minute equaliser after Watford had taken a shock lead in their Barclays Premiership clash at Fratton Park.

Kanu, following stories quoting him saying he wants to rejoin Ajax, hit his eighth Pompey goal in 12 games after Jay DeMerit headed the opener.

Watford could have led in only the second minute through Malky Mackay but they notched only their third away goal of the season when American defender DeMerit headed home from a corner.
