Liverpool FC star Mohamed Sissoko has been accused of punching a man during an alleged fight at a fast food outlet.

The French-Malian midfielder, 21, was in the Hot'n'Tender takeaway, in the Wavertree area of Liverpool, when trouble flared at around 3.30am yesterday.

A 19-year-old man claimed his 18-year-old brother was punched by Sissoko during the melee.

The alleged incident was later reported to Merseyside Police, which launched an investigation.

A spokeswoman said: "We can confirm that officers are investigating a complaint from a 19-year-old man in relation to an assault alleged to have occurred at 3.30am on Sunday, November 5, at a takeaway premises on Smithdown Road.

"The alleged offender has made an appointment to speak to officers about the incident in the near future."

A spokesman for Liverpool FC declined to comment.

He said: "We are aware of the allegations but we are not going to say anything."

Management of the Hot'n'Tender were unavailable for comment today, as the shop was closed.
