Two goals from Luis Garcia and Steven Gerrard’s first of the season gave Liverpool another convincing Champions League victory and a place in the next stage of the competition.

Luis Garcia’s early striker had Liverpool ahead at the break, but it was not until Brazilian Fernando Menegazzo lost his cool and head-butted John Arne Riise - reducing Bordeaux to 10 men – that Liverpool took control.

Gerrard strode away to score in the 72nd minute, before Luis Garcia’s 10th Champions League goal wrapped up the points for Liverpool.
