Dunne on target for City
Manchester City 1 Middlesbrough 0
Richard Dunne’s first-half header proved enough to give Manchester City a much-needed win against Middlesbrough at Eastlands.
Condemned by chairman John Wardle for the embarrassing four-goal drubbing at Wigan last week, the City players had plenty to prove and none more so than Dunne, whose own goal hardly helped at the JJB Stadium.
And the big Irishman provided the perfect response, rising to nod home Joey Barton’s corner to ensure maximum points, although City did suffer a late scare when Massimo Maccarone fired against the post.
